Leaf Wreath – ARTBAR
I took a wander in our local park this 7 days on the most perfect tumble day. Temps were low 60’s, sky was dazzling blue, there was a slight breeze and just the smell of autumn in the air. The trees have been turning for two weeks now but on this working day, with the breeze, leaves have been fluttering to the ground all all around me.
I introduced a bag with me to gather leaves, as one particular does on fantastic slide times, and I collected so numerous that it felt like it weighed a couple of kilos. I promptly assumed of the excellent concept for my giant bag of leaves…. a leaf wreath made with a wire hanger!
I initially observed this leaf wreath idea a long time ago on my mate Gina’s blog site, Willowday. I realized it essential a ton of leaves considering that they are stacked, and I’m commonly anyone who only collects what I can maintain, so I have not had a probability to deliver house a huge leaf haul till now!
How to make a leaf wreath with a wire hanger:
1. Obtain your leaves and arrange them by color. I must have collected a couple of hundred leaves at minimum, but fact be advised I *even now* didn’t have ample. I experienced to slash my hanger a tiny shorter. So err on the facet of too a lot!
2. Use needle nose pliers to untwist the major of the wire hanger. Use your very own fingers to bend out the kinks, then to bend it into a circle. To reduce the wire hanger (which you will probably have to do until you obtained hundreds of leaves!), just bend back again and forth a number of times in just one spot and it will split. You can do this by hand or with the pliers. (You can also use floral wire, like this vine-covered variety, as a substitute of a hanger.)
3. Start off stacking and threading the leaves onto the wire hanger. It is extremely easy to do, you can do a bunch at a time.
4. Thread them upside down until finally you get halfway, then thread them proper side up.
6. When you are completed threading, use the pliers to bend the conclude into a tiny loop, then hook it at the top to safe the ring.
This wreath will start off to dry up really speedily and the hues will fade. If you want the color to very last, test dipping the leaves in beeswax to start with!
